The Analyst's Corner is a series of articles providing brief summaries of software measurement techniques and indicating additional information sources.

What does the ongoing explosion of interest in the Internet, especially the World Wide Web, mean for the software metrics analyst? One aspect of an answer is easier access to vendors of software measurement tools. Many vendors now have electronic mail, and a number of them have created Web pages. Table 1 below provides point of contact information for a number of software measurement vendors.

Another emerging capability of the Web is the provision of analysis capabilities for metric databases and Web interfaces to metric tools. For example, the DACS, the National Software Data and Information Repository,(See the article devoted to the NSDIR in this newsletter.) and the Web Integrated Software Environment (WISE) have begun exploring this capability:
