The DoD Standardization Improvement Council unanimously voted during November
1994 to approve MIL-STD-498 (replacement for DoD-STD-2167A, AIS Std 7935A, and
NSA Std 1703) for a period of two years. Once approved, IEEE-1498 will replace MIL-STD-498.
