DACS "Home Page"
In moving forward with the vision of making the DACS and "IAC on the Internet,"
a DACS "Home Page" is now available to the DACS community! Implemented using
any World Wide Web (WWW) browser, the DACS "Home Page" offers
information on software engineering and software technology resources available
from the DACS and other sources.
Mosaic was described in the April 1994 issue of Wired magazine as the current pick for a killer app that will bring the Net to the masses. Mosaic presents the WWW as one large seamless hypertext document that can be browsed by using a simple point and click interface. Mosaic offers the added feature of providing access to gopher sites and Internet newsgroups saved using the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP).
The DACS Home Page is available at Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Initial offerings include:
- An overview of the DACS program,
- Access to the Home Page developed by the
Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) in support of the Information
- Analysis Center (IAC) program,
- Hypertext versions of DACS Newsletters, and
- Access to the DACS Gopher.
Linkages to other software engineering resources and expanded DACS information
will continue to be added to the DACS Home Page during this construction phase
of operation.
