In order for the DACS to ensure that all information requirements related to software engineering issues of special concern are identified, understood, fulfilled and pursuant to the requirements of DoD regulations, the DACS Steering Committee was recently established. The specific purpose of the DACS Steering Committee is to advise the DACS regarding software engineering community problems, topics, issues, etc. In turn, the Committee will also inform the software engineering community regarding the DACS' capabilities. The first meeting for the DACS Steering Committee was held on 15 June 1994 in the Washington, DC area. The Committee is comprised of 15 members that possess a wide range of software engineering experience within the Government and DoD. This kickoff meeting provided the Committee members an opportunity to understand and discuss the details of the overall Information Analysis Center (IAC) program as well as the DACS in terms of the DACS Charter, capabilities, and technical expertise. The Committee plans to meet twice per year to provide a forum for discussion on matters of performance, quality, and appropriateness of the DACS.
