The Army Software Metrics System Newsletter is an informal publication sponsored by the U.S. Army Operational Test and Evaluation Command. The Newsletter is intended to provide a continuous source of information on current activities in U.S. Army Software T&E. The Newsletter provides follow-up information on the initiatives in Army Software T&E which were recommended by the Software T&E Panel (STEP). The Army initiatives for software T&E procedures and metrics are formally promulgated by the current drafts of Army Regulation 73-1, "Test and Evaluation" and Department of the Army Pamphlet (DA Pam) 73-1, Part 7, "Software Test and Evaluation Guidelines." The Newsletter will provide informal, current information to supplement these publications during the implementation of new software T&E policies and procedures. Newsletter articles may include any issues which impact the effectiveness and suitability of US Army software-intensive systems, both Automated Information Systems and Material System Computer Resources. Readers are encouraged to submit articles to the newsletter to include any facts, opinions, and points of interest. The Army Software Metrics System Newsletter is mailed free upon request. Letters and articles for publication should be addressed to:
